SADHANA Foundation

SADHANA Foundation is a member-based cooperative dedicated to preserving and promoting the classical music of South Asia throughout the world.

The South Asian Diasporic Hindustani Arts and Networking Association component of the Foundation focuses on connecting artists, individuals, institutions and organizations working in the field of Hindustani music. The goal of the member-based structure is to create a networking platform through which members can collectively promote Hindustani music in a unified way.

South Asian Diasporic Hindustani Arts & Networking Association

South Asian relates to the geographic area where raga music originated, primarily the modern countries of India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Nepal. It also applies to the people of this culturally diverse region who are unified by a common artistic heritage.

Diasporic refers to raga music practitioners of all backgrounds living and performing outside of South Asia, primarily in the United States and Canada.

Hindustani Arts refers to the raga music of northern South Asia. Although SADHANA is partnered with several Karnatic musicians and organizations, the primary focus of the association is Hindustani music.

Networking means building a community through quarterly newsletters, artist and institutional databases, event organization and an annual conference.

Association means an organized group with a board of directors, officers, members, sponsors and volunteers.
